Electric Oven FAQs
Which type of electric oven is best for baking?
For most home bakers, a convection oven is a practical choice because its fan circulates hot air for more even cooking. Look for precise temperature control, several shelf positions and sufficient space for your baking trays. Models offering both fan-assisted and conventional top-and-bottom heat provide greater flexibility for cakes, bread, pastries and roasting.
Should I choose a built-in or countertop oven?
A built-in oven fits permanently into kitchen cabinetry and usually provides more capacity for regular baking, roasting and family meals. A countertop oven is portable, requires no cabinet installation and suits smaller kitchens, rental homes or occasional cooking. Consider your available space, cooking frequency and future renovation plans.
What oven capacity should I choose?
As a general guide, 30–40L suits one or two people, 40–70L suits regular cooking for three or four people, while 70L and above is useful for larger families, entertaining or batch baking. Also check whether your usual trays and roasting dishes fit inside the oven.
Can I replace my existing built-in oven without modifying the cabinet?
Only when the new oven’s required cut-out and ventilation clearances fit the existing cabinet. Measure the opening’s width, height and depth—not only the oven’s visible front. Also confirm the door clearance and electrical requirements using the model’s installation drawing before purchasing.
What is the difference between convection, steam and combi ovens?
A convection oven circulates hot air for baking, roasting and browning. A steam oven uses steam to retain moisture while cooking. A combi oven combines steam with conventional or fan-assisted heat, allowing food to remain moist inside while developing colour or crispness outside. Available functions differ between models.
Is a pyrolytic self-cleaning oven worth choosing?
Pyrolytic cleaning uses very high heat to turn grease and food residue into ash, which can be wiped away after the oven cools. Steam or hydro-cleaning systems mainly soften residue and still require wiping. Pyrolytic cleaning is useful for frequent roasting or baking but normally costs more.
Which electric oven brand is best?
There is no single best brand for every kitchen. Compare the available warranty, local after-sales support, capacity, temperature range, heating functions and cleaning system. Choose a model that fits your cabinet and cooking habits rather than selecting one based only on the brand name or number of functions.
